Lyre operates at the intersection of military experience, intelligence and cyber security.

The approach rests on one principle: an adversary does not operate within the boundaries of a framework.

Military experience provides the discipline to plan against an adaptive threat. Intelligence separates what is known from what is uncertain, and turns fragments into something that can be acted on. Offensive expertise establishes how access is gained and controls circumvented. Defensive expertise ensures the measures that follow are proportionate and sustainable.

This is complemented by engagement with UK defence and security research institutions, and by visiting academic appointments covering technical open-source intelligence, threat analysis and emerging security challenges.

Discretion is not an additional service. It is a condition of engagement. Lyre does not disclose the identities of its personnel or the organisations it serves. Where verification of credentials or legitimacy is required, it is undertaken directly and in confidence.

Reputation is established through the work delivered, not the visibility sought.

Lyre was founded to address risks facing prominent individuals that conventional security providers were not equipped to manage. The remit has since widened.

Lyre acts for executives, private individuals, companies and the law firms that represent them, with further work in defence and technology. The common factor is exposure that cannot be handled in the open.

Hermes made the first lyre from a tortoise shell and gave it to Apollo. It passed eventually to Amphion, who was set the task of walling Thebes with his brother Zethus.

Zethus carried the stones by hand. Amphion played.

The stones rose and set themselves into the wall, each to its own place.

The material was already on the ground. What was missing was the arrangement.

The lyre became the constellation Lyra: four stars in a parallelogram, next to Vega. Lyre takes its name and its mark from it.
